Wrongly Convicted

Founder and Chair, Proclaim Justice

I met Dr. Jackson as an interview subject in a project she worked on concerning wrongful conviction.  Since my accusation and arrest I have been subject to countless interviews yet none of my interview have been as knowledgeable and thus as precise in her questioning as Dr. Jackson.  Since that interview, we have communicated numerous times, and that is tantamount to the degree of passion Dr. Jackson has for her subject matter.

Professor Nicky Jackson, an educator and inspired advocate, has diligently fought for the rights of the accused. She is someone who singlehandedly took upon the fight to gain compensation for men and women exonerated for crimes they never committed in the state of Indiana.  Professor Jackson has an elegant smile. She is soft-spoken but determined to ensure that justice is served for those who were stripped of stability once returning home from decades of incarceration for crimes they never committed.

Doctor Nicky Jackson and I met after my release in 2016. Misses. Jackson had read my story and asked me did I want to be on her forum on wrongful convictions that was going to be held at Purdue northwest. After the forum ended, Mrs. Jackson expressed her concern about Indiana not having compensation. Mrs. Jackson proceeded to tell me that she was going to do something about it. Honestly, I thought she was barking up the wrong tree. However, she was persistent, diligent, and she had a pit bull mentality. Meaning she was very aggressive, but in a kind and gentle way.  We have become close friends. She calls me her little brother but I call her my guardian Angel. Thanks doctor Nikki “Pitbull” quote Jackson. Your dedication to this cause is unbelievable. You are fearless.
